Has postmodernism made a valuable contribution to sociology?
Postmodernism has created a new way of looking at the way society has changed, where meta-narratives are becoming less suited to society today, where globalization has taken place and people are more reliant on things such as media, and celebrities rather than religion and families.

Have you done everything you can to achieve your target grade? How might you amend your revision strategy to achieve it?
Currently doing revision notes for all subjects and topics, and in the middle of Photography exam! so am trying very hard to make sure i get my target grade, i will continue making my revision notes, and then put them onto revision cards that condense the info down onto cards that i can expand on! :) In my mentor meeting we discussed doing more essay plans along with the revision notes because it is coming across in my essays that i know the details but my order isn't the best it could be, where as if i work on where to use evaluation and what should go first etc then my essays will be stronger and i will be able to achieve my target grade in most essays! My next task at the moment is to continue working through my crime and deviance notes as well as the psychology notes that i am working on. Busy busy busy :)

How useful are self-report and victimisation studies to sociologists?
Victimization studies help sociologists find out who is targeted the most, and what sort of crimes they are likely to be a victim of. This can then help to make it less easy for these crimes to be committed and local authorities will be more aware of the crimes that are affecting more and more people. however problems with victimization studies are the validity of what people are saying happened, they could be bias, or be telling a lie to make it seem worse than it is.
Self -Report studies are useful for sociologists because it lets them know which social groups are the most likely to commit crimes and of what sort of crime they commit. People will admit to crimes that aren't major or harmful to others. If they have not yet been caught for a crime they are unlikely to admit to it for fear of being caught, also if people have committed a crime and do admit to it they may over exaggerate to make it seem more dramatic ( makes them feel important). Validity problems - are they telling a real account of what happened?

My revision techniques for Summer exam
For summer exam i will be making revision cards that summarize the notes i make on each topic, will include a summary of the theory with evaluation as well! also will colour co ordinate them if possible, if not i will be using different coloured pens to make sure it is all clear :)
Revision notes and cards really help me to revise and remember just the key details which jog my memory further into more knowledge that is linked to what i have summarised on the card.
Revision notes will be started over Easter holidays!!!!

Crime and deviance
Covering Crime and deviance topics at the moment. Link to a relevant article i found of a 'youth' that will be punished for making a tweet on the social networking site Twitter that was racially offensive to the Bolton footballer (Fabrice Muamba) who collapsed during game on March 17 2012.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/mar/19/fabrice-muamba-twitter-troll-prison
Lots of articles on Muamba and his condition, but there is also focus on the youth that was offensive towards him.
